Privacy Policy
Nitro is a training and nutrition app for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy explains what information Nitro collects, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. We collect only what the app needs to work, and we do not sell your data.
Information we collect
- Account: your email address and password (the password is handled by our sign-in provider and never stored by us in readable form).
- Profile: sex, date of birth, height, weight, activity level, goals, and food and training preferences you enter during onboarding or in settings.
- Training: the workouts, routines and sets you log, and summaries of completed sessions: duration, distance, pace, lap splits, calories, average and peak heart rate, time in each heart rate zone, cadence, power and elevation gain.
- Nutrition: the meal plans, recipes and shopping lists generated for you, and the meals you mark as eaten.
- Subscription status: whether you are on a trial or a paid plan. Payments are processed by Apple; we never receive your card or payment details.
- Device: a push notification token, so we can send the notifications you allow.
- Technical records: standard server logs and, for each AI request, metadata such as timing and success. We do not store the content of AI prompts in these records.
Signing in with Apple, Google or a passkey
If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, that provider shares with us your email address (with Apple, this may be a private relay address), your name if you choose to share it, and an account identifier. We use these only to create your Nitro account and sign you in. We never receive your Apple or Google password, and we do not access your contacts, files or any other data in your Apple or Google account.
Nitro's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
If you use a passkey, the private key stays on your device and in your password manager (such as iCloud Keychain). Our sign-in provider stores only the public key needed to verify that it is you.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
With your permission, Nitro reads body weight, workouts, heart rate, active energy, steps, distance, and running and cycling speed, power and cadence from Apple Health. If you also connect recovery data, it reads sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, body fat percentage and lean body mass; you can type in body fat and lean mass yourself instead. It saves the workouts you record back to Apple Health, including their distance, active energy and route. It never writes recovery or body composition data to Apple Health.
Nitro uses this data only to provide its own features: tracking your training progress, showing live training intensity, generating workout insights, comparing your recovery with your own recent normal, and adjusting your daily calorie target and meal plans to your weight trend and, when you have given one, your body fat.
Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, is never sold, and is never shared with data brokers or advertising platforms. It is shared only with the service providers that run those features — Supabase, Railway and OpenAI, described below — and only as needed to run them for you. You can change or revoke access at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.
Data that stays on your device
- Location: used while you record a run or ride to measure your route, distance and pace. The route itself stays on your device and in Apple Health; only the resulting distance and pace are sent to our servers.
- Camera and photos: used only when you choose a background for a workout share image. The image is composed on your device and is not uploaded to us.
Audio cues
During a workout, Nitro can speak short cues in your headphones, such as your next set, your rest countdown or a split time. To turn a cue into speech, its text — exercise names and numbers like weights, reps and times — is sent to our voice provider. No audio from your microphone is recorded or sent for this. The spoken clips are kept on your device so the same cue is not fetched twice. You can turn audio cues off in Settings.
